In the state of Maharashtra, Yunus Fazlani Medical College & Al-Fazlani Unani Hospital is a singular college of its type. The Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), in New Delhi, has prescribed a curriculum and syllabus for the Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (B.U.M.S.) program, which is taught at the college. It was founded in 2009 with the intention of making Indian System of Medicine education and science more widely known.
