About College
In Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, there is a government medical college called State Unani Medical College (SUMC). Every student chosen through NEET (UG) is admitted to the institution’s BUMS course; there is a 60 student intake capacity per year.
Allama Hakim Ahmad Hussain established the State Unani Medical College at Himmatganj, Allahabad, as a stand-alone institution in the early years of 1904, from his residence on his private land. On July 2, 1982, the college was provincialized and turned into a government institution under the administration of the Uttar Pradesh government, along with the state’s other unani and ayurvedic medical colleges.
Government Unani Medical College, Himmatganj, Allahabad, has been permanently affiliated with Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur since 2013 through a letter dated 3.8.2013 with letter no. CSJMU/Affiliate./ 2868/2013. This affiliation is in accordance with Section 37 proviso (2) of the Uttar Pradesh State University (Amendment) Act.
There is a herb garden at the college with about 250 different species of medicinal plants. It is roughly 13120 square meters in size.
The college’s 60-bed state-run HAHRDM [Hakim Ahmad Husain Republic Day Memorial] Hospital serves both the education of college students and the underprivileged. The Unani medical system is the primary means of treatment provided in this facility. This location offers facilities for feeding.
