About College
The first government Unani college in India, Govt. Tibbi College & Hospital was founded in 1926 and is connected to Aryabhatta Knowledge University (AKU). It currently offers two courses: Pre-Tib and BUMS. The process of initiating the MD/PG program in five departments, increasing the UG intake to one hundred, and establishing diploma and certificate programs in several areas of Unani medicine is underway. With an incremental increase in patients, ten outpatient departments are operating at full capacity (around 400 per day); they have an online registration system called “Sanjeevni.” The college offers in-patient care in eight departments with spacious, well-equipped wards. The most traditional and patent medications are available in IPDs and OPDs through GTCH. Free of charge are a number of regimens, pathological testing, medications, and inpatient facilities.The college has two well designed and kept herbal gardens: one on campus at IGIMS, and the other on college property. The GTCH campus is well-equipped with modern classrooms and is constantly monitored by CCTV. “To provide quality teaching & training in Unani System of Medicine (USM) and developing the college as center of excellence” is the visionary head of the institute’s mission.
