About College
In 1983, the Govt. Homoeopathic Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram was established, with Dr. K. J. Isaac serving as its principal. The Central Council of Homoeopathy, a division of the Department of AYUSH in the Government of India, has authorized the college, which is associated with the University of Kerala. The Keralan government owns the college. In that same year, the five and a half-year Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine & Surgery degree program was launched. For three years, beginning in 1991, was the BHMS graded degree program. Beginning in 1995, the three-year Post Graduate program in Medicine (MD (Hom)) included two subjects: Materia Medica and Homoeopathic Philosophy.Another graduate-level course in repertory was added in 1996. Postgraduate studies in the fields of homoeopathic pharmacy and medicine practice were initiated in 2004.
Facilities:
Hostel: On the college grounds, lodging will be available for both male and female students. Subject to the availability of rooms, admittance to the hostel is granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Library: Books on homoeopathy and related medical matters are abundantly available in the college library. The journals, magazines, newspapers, and periodicals in the library are well-stocked. The college offers lecture halls, seminar halls, sports facilities, conference halls, canteens, well-equipped classrooms, and medical services.
Courses Offered: The five and a half-year Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) degree program in homoeopathy is offered by the Govt. Homeopathic Medical College. The BHMS curriculum will last approximately four and a half years, including an obligatory internship of one year. There are 68 places available for BHMS in total. The college also provides a graded course for external candidates in addition to conventional B.H.M.S. (Graded Degree) courses.
