Founded in 1920, Dr. Padiar Memorial Homeopathic Medical College is a private college located in Ernakulam. With 50 places available each year, the college is associated with Kerala’s Mahatma Gandhi University in Kottayam.
Located in Kerala State, close to Ernakulam, on a hillock near the well-known Devi Temple at Chottanikkara is the Dr. Padiar Memorial Homoeopathic Medical College. The two distinguished homoeo doctors, Drs. Sreenivasa Padiar and Madhava Padiar, who are the sons of Sri. Krishna Padiar, are responsible for the college’s founding.
Facilities:
Library: Books on homoeopathy and related medical matters are abundantly available in the college library. The journals, magazines, newspapers, and periodicals in the library are well-stocked. The college offers lecture halls, seminar halls, sports facilities, conference halls, canteens, well-equipped classrooms, and medical services.
Hostel: Separate accommodations are provided at a hostel for males and girls. Following acceptance into the college, students must submit an application for a room in the hostel using a form that must be paid for. The hostel requires strict adherence to rules. Teaching staff who have been properly authorized to oversee the hostel are on duty to ensure that discipline is upheld at all times.
BHMS (Degree) courses are available (from 1994) Upon receiving government sanction and approval from the Central Council of Homoeopathy, students pursued a Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery program that lasted four years and six months academically and one year of internship. The program was initially affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University in Kottayam, but is now permanently affiliated with Kerala University of Health Sciences in Thrissur, as per Order No. 41/4053/2010/KUHS dt. 10.02.2012.
